Real C. Coupal: Founder of Frenchie’s Chevrolet Real C. Coupal, affectionately known as "Frenchie," was a visionary entrepreneur and dedicated community leader whose legacy continues to inspire. Born on September 19, 1940, in St. Armands, Quebec, Frenchie moved to St. Albans, Vermont, as a child. Overcoming the challenges of adapting to a new language and culture, he quickly gained recognition for his hard work and determination. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963 as a military truck driver in France, Frenchie returned home with a steadfast work ethic and a vision for the future. His career began modestly, washing cars at Simpson Motors. However, his innate ability to connect with others propelled him to success in sales, where he quickly became a trusted figure in the community. In 1982, Frenchie fulfilled his dream of owning a dealership when he and his family moved to Massena, New York, to purchase John’s Chevrolet. His leadership and commitment to excellence transformed the business into Frenchie’s Chevrolet, a cornerstone of the community. Over the years, Frenchie expanded his impact by adding Frenchie’s Selects and Frenchie’s Ford, along with other ventures, creating opportunities and strengthening Massena’s economy. Beyond his business achievements, Frenchie’s heart was rooted in service. From fundraising and delivering meals to supporting local churches and community programs, his generosity touched countless lives. A proud Rotarian and lifelong supporter of St. Peter’s Parish, he was always ready to lend a helping hand. Above all, Frenchie valued family and community. He built not just businesses but relationships, treating everyone like family. His belief in helping others defined his life and work. Real “Frenchie” Coupal’s legacy lives on through the thriving dealerships, the community he uplifted, and the countless lives he inspired. His story is a testament to the power of vision, kindness, and dedication.

Thelma is the Vice President of Frenchie's. She has worked in the office for 30 years and is the business manager. She handles all the regular office duties, payroll, taxes, bookkeeping, and has progressed from the large, manual books to the very latest in automotive computer systems. Thelma and the girls keep the office running successfully.
